Annual MFA Summer Show, July 2022

Columbia School of the Arts in collaboration with ChaShaMa.

Columbia University’s MFA School of the Arts classes of 2022 and ’23 presented in July their summer show, Noumena. Over 50 artists came together “in a group exhibition that aims to provide a space for play, reiteration, and small gestures through objects, prints and paintings alike”.

It gave us enormous joy and inspiration to see the works of young artists, who are just a few years older than we are. My friends and I asked a ton of questions ranging from ‘what inspired this particular theme in your painting?’ to ‘why pursue an MFA?”. It was also inspiring to see how an ordinary space can be transformed with art. This exhibition was on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, but ChaShaMa works with all kinds of spaces across the five boroughs.
